Growing up in a homely surrounding
The policy of K.I.D.S. is that a child grows up best in a family-like environment, preferably with their own family. K.I.D.S. therefore does everything possible to place children with their family after a transitional period. This approach also frees up space in the shelters for new children.
However, it is not always possible to place children with their families. In such cases, a child remains in a shelter for a longer period. On average, about half of the children stay in a shelter for an extended time, while the other half have more temporary placements.
